Description
Although cover dated June, 1934 this issue of Good Housekeeping was on the newsstand one month earlier, in May 1934.As
Good Housekeeping
was a family oriented magazine,
Walt Disney decided to use this publication to advertise his upcoming cartoon theatrical shorts, called "Silly Symphonies". Much like an older version of today's theatrical trailers, Disney used brilliant art to create a synopsis of an upcoming cartoon on a full page, and prior to the cartoons release in theaters.
In this historic issue you will find the earliest existing images of Donald Duck ever printed.
Complete with sailor suit and cap, and wings for hands.
So prior to any comic book, newspaper, or cartoon appearance, this is the official first appearance of Donald Duck in history.
This also contains a historic and long out of print "Canyon Kiddies" by James Swinnerton.
This was a very early comic page about American Indians.
