EDWARD PENFIELD HARPER'S WEEKLY ORIGINAL MIDSUMMER POSTER PRINT 1894 RARE

Description

Edward Penfield, the "father" of the American Poster, created this very rare and original "Midsummer Number" poster print for a summer 1894 issue of Harper's Weekly.  Penfield had been recently hired as the art editor of Harper's Weekly and in this position created monthly posters advertising the Harper's Weekly issues of that month.  Penfield also created two special poster sized prints in Harpers issues in1894, this "Midsummer Number" issue poster print and a "Christmas" issue poster print, which is separately listed in this auction.  The size of this poster print is 9.875" x 14.75".  This poster print will be an attractive addition for a Penfield/ early poster collector and will look wonderful framed.
The poster print is protected in an archival print sleeve, will be shipped protected by stiff shipping materials and in a water resistant envelope and will be shipped using USPS First Class Mail.
