Description
Classic 20th century publications!!!This is the July 1953 issue of Pathfinder, The Town Journal. Pathfinder had been a weekly from 1894 to 1953, but had transitioned to a monthly, and was in the process of changing its name (from Pathfinder News Magazine to Pathfinder The Town Journal to simply The Town Journal).
The cover features a young boy on a carousel horse. The magazine contains 80 pages and measures approximately 8.25 x 11 inches. In addition to a wide range of articles, there are black & white and color photos and vintage black & white and color advertisements.
Town Journal, a general interest family monthly, grew out of a news weekly named Pathfinder that had been acquired by the publisher (Farm Journal Corporation) in 1943. Although Town Journal built its circulation to more than two million, the publication was too expensive to produce and was discontinued in December 1956.
For a time after World War II and through much of the 1950s Pathfinder/the Town Journal was the second-largest circulation news magazine in the United States.
