Description

This is the June 1969 issue of Speed Age (“America’s First Auto Racing Magazine”). The magazine was formerly named Drag Strip. The magazine contains numerous articles/features, color and black & white photos and vintage advertisements.
The magazine contains 64 pages and measures approximately 8 x 10.75 inches.
Speed Age was published between May 1947 and December 1959. No issues were printed from January through May 1954. There were several "special" issues published. There were also at least two short-lived attempts to resurrect Speed Age in later years.
Drag Strip magazine was a re-titling of Modern Rod magazine. It was a full-size monthly publication with a primary focus on drag racing. The March 1969 issue was combined with a resurrected version of the Speed Age title. And then with the May 1969 issue, the titles were swapped, with Speed Age taking the lead and Drag Strip preceded by the dreaded "formerly" label. Speed Age was an attempt to resurrect the racing focus and original brand, but it only lasted until December 1969.
